USA is many people’s dream not only in contemporary SOCIETY but at that time because of their democracy, liberty and opportunities. Every could come ture his or her dream here if he or she has ambition and do it. If you strive for your goals, you will fulfill your ambitions. Just do it, or nothing belongs to you.
Baba had nothing here but 2 hands now. Everything is zero for him, so he must start from zero. He was not rich any longer and everyone treated him not as kind as the people in the past. He also had to work hard for living. Sum up, all aspects have been changed in his life.
This is American dream that begin from zero and achieve your goals through struggling and then enjoy the feeling of success. It’s not only American dream but the essence of life. The essence of life is striving and then making your dream true by your own hands with tasting the happiness in the process!!!

Elizabeth's Assignment#5

As far as he knows, America is a place where dreams will come true. Baba believes that they will build their life again there. But the reality is different from what he knows and he is somehow disappointed at this. After two years in America, they still struggle for living and Baba has to adopt himself to the different lifestyle there. In the grocery, Baba has a conflict with the Nguyens' and he says no one trust anybody. Amir says in his hometown, people trust each other and they won't cheat. People in America are quite different from those in Kabul on this aspect. Before I came to USA, I thought this is a place where people advocate independence and honesty. It proves to be true. The difference is that I used to consider people here to be very neat or with cleanliness. But I find that some students are quite sluttery, because I have see a student laying all his clothes and underwears on the floor and another spitting on public place. I couldn't believe this at first.

Dana's Assignment 5 - KR Chapter 10&11

What he means is he thought America is a better country than Peshawar. Baba used to think America the brash savior. But in the reality, Baba worked at the gas station and lived in the poor area; most of their neighbors were blue-collar people. Baba said, “What kind of a country is this? No one trusts anybody!” He thought people in America trust nobody. He missed the sugarcane fields of Jalalabad and the gardens of Paghman. From chapter 11, we know that the Bay Area's smog stung his eyes, the traffic noise gave him headaches, and the pollen made him cough. The fruit was never sweet enough, the water never clean enough. A year and a half since they had stepped off the Boeing from Peshawar and Baba was still adjusting. For Baba, America is a place to mourn his memories. Before I came to America, I thought America is a very extraordinary country, everything in here is amazing and people in here are friendly. However, the reality of America is completely different as what I thought before. After I had been here for four months, I noticed that America is a very open and free country. You can do whatever you like and say whatever you want. For me, I think I’m still a very traditional person, I can’t accept something out of morals. People here are not friendly to everyone, because everybody is busy taking care of their own business. Sometime America made me feel uncomfortable and selfish. Although I had some bad impressions about America before, I still have to live my life here. So I decide to find the good things in America and enjoy my life in here.

It means that Baba thought America is a freely country. It’s a wonderful place for people to realized their dreams by their hard work. Baba and Amir come to American after a long time’s tough life in waiting and now they can really touch the place and begin their new life in this country where has no war. He think he can achieve his goal again. That’s why Baba said he love the idea of America, he can see the hope in this place. However, everything was not so great because when they were put in a absolutely different culture, they must try their best to adapt the new environment.There must have huge differences between the life in their mind and in the real America society. At the early time, Baba thought life is full of hope.However, the true is, he can’t adapt to the new life even nearlly two years’ stay. He quarreled with the owner of a bookstore just because she asked his ID. He felt that people here don’t trust others and also look down upon them. They lived in a poor area and Baba began to think about the life before they come here.
Well, before I come here, America in my mind is related with the words like busy, prosperous and lively. As the most strong country in the world, I think the cities must be full of exciting and interesting things. However, when I came here, I found what I thought is wrong. On the contrary, even the big city is really peacful. I’m looking forward to get some different experiences here but there’s no chance for me to do it. It’s a pity that the life here is far away of what I have thought before but I also enjoy this kind of quiet because this is a really a perfect for me to study and obtain many useful things or my future life.

At the beginning of chapter 11, Amir says that “Baba liked the idea of America.” What does he mean by that? How is the idea of America different from the reality of America for Baba? Kayla is the one we see in this picture ,she used to model for 5 years until she had an accident and lost her left hand she stopped modeling for a while. she didn’t have much attention before ,but now she does with only one hand. Beauty doesn’t mean perfect.

I would like to say that Amir and Hassan a bit of everything friends, servant/master, and bothers. children in they're age hardly think what servant and master means. Amir spend time with Hassan more than with Baba and his mother, so Hassan is like a family to him a brother in a better word. you see Hassa name almost every page in this text book and that’s mean Amir like him a lot. Amir and Hassan do things brothers cant do front of each other so he is a best friend to Amir.In chapter 5,"how can you call him your 'friend'?"Assef said. but he's not my friend! I almost blunted. He's my servant! yes that’s what Amir said, but he didn’t mean it ,he said it because he was scared of Assef. Amir also only play with Hassa when no one around, that doesn’t mean anything it just the way they used to. However Hassan is a servant and Amir the master but not between with them.

Amir and his father had a distant relationship. From my point of view ,Baba love Amir so much and worried about him because his the only child he had and after Amir mom died Baba felt more worried. Amir cant understand how his father treated him, he was too young to know. Baba was a very successful man and he wanted Amir to be just like him, so he tell Amir to do things he cant do and that's why Amir thinks his father does not love him. In any country or culture the father love his children no matter what. So we cant say the relationship between Amir and his father wasn't healthy, it was quiet complicated.

The problem between Amir and his father is normal. Parents always think in their way and ignore children’s feeling. We can clearly see the gap between Amir and his father. We can attribute to difficulty for them reaching a consensus. When father commenced forcing his son, the gap become bigger and biger. So they cant have a very close bond. In the other way, Amir love and appreciate his father very much, he want to become like him, as strong as him. Therefore, he has a very complex feeling about his father, even he can not figure out.

I think soul of shrimp is easily happened in such a person like him. People are reasonable get in this kind of feeling by defects. Only escaping is not a good way, people should first face the problem; rise above the weakness is an important step. Then try to change attitude.
However, I think my problem in writing is that I often use wrong words in sentences. That causes my sentences always not in a native way in English. So, sometimes, I am hesitant to speak and write. Sometime I lack of confidence to write and speak. But now, I am in American, if I only let the problem go because of no confidence, there is nothing help. When you figure out where the place you are, after some confidence come back, the soul of shrimp will disappear.

Her name is Alexandra Michael, one of super models in the U.S. When she started modeling, she was 5'9" and 130lbs. That is not overweight at all, she is actually thin. But designers kept asking her to lose her weight for the show. Finally she realized she was 102lbs and losing her hair at 18. What do you think about her body? I think she is too skinny and unhealthy. The problem is that teen girls long for such a skinny body like her at the present day. Super models are the role model for teen girls. When girls buy clothes that super models put on and realize it does not the same as models, they sometimes go on a diet extremely to be like models. Even though they are by no means fat, they assume they are overweight.
I imagine the true beauty comes from inner brightness rather than apperance. But I found there is a certain idea that they have to be skinny in order to be beautiful. I'm anxious to imagine many models are under the impression it is the only way their cloth will look good to be skinny.

Body style like other attributes can help people to improve their self confidence, it means if you enhance your repertoire you feel better and you find good self image, but the controversial question is that having different characteristic such as sexy body style, nice and beauty face suffice for being happy and satisfied! You may have a nice and beauty face with a good body style, but you don’t feel confident about yourself. In my opinion for being happy and cheery you should have beauty mind. We can see a lot of people who are not cheery in spite of their money and their beauty, on the other hand you may see people who are happy and jolly however poor they may be. This picture may motivate customers to buy the products such as clothes but there is no satisfaction warranty if those clothes fit them and look nice as well as picture. Some people won’t be satisfied and happy even if they buy all things in the world! In conclusion for being cheery and happy we have to enhance our mind and our spiritual wisdom so that everything that we have and we don’t, make us happy and satisfied, this is the secret of happiness in my opinion.

Real beauty comes from one's own effort.

The America biggest loser couple is my favorite TV show because this show presents real lives to people. Recently, so many people who cannot have normal lives suffer from obesity. They want to be normal people just normal lives. However, probably, over half of people, especially women, want to be skinny person because we are always watching skinny beautiful models on every media. These kinds of media are made of our bias that what the standard beauty is. We have to change this media environmental. But escape from all of media is really hard. Clothes shows their some specific body part. Thats about their self confidence. Mostly, we can see, it is all about appearance. Inner beauty is not really at foreground. This is a playbill of a movie which name is “ENTRAPMENT”. When we looked at this picture, the actress who is really beautiful and sexy can attract our sight. In my opinion, I think this may be the standard of beauty in America. If we accumulated our eyesight to the woman’s eyes, we can find a kind of smart feelings in it. It seems she want to tell us something different. I think the simply pretty appearance can make people feel boring at last. Yes, she's Sophie Marceau, a French individual actress, who is called "France Rose" by French citizens. Nature, health, confidence, and independence are her distinguishing features.

It seems that many people think the semblance of female is more important than the inherency, so they spend or want women spend a lot of time in making up or trying to be sexy but forget to improve the insides. However, Sophie's appearance overthrow that thought. Her independence produces her confidence and these two features make her more beautiful, even thought she doesn't make up and isn’t sexy. This post is an ad for one Guerlain perfume called "Champs Elysees". It's effective to ask Sophie to be the "speakwoman", because she's not only a general beauty but also the lady who present wonderful spirits, such as independence. Furthermore, those spirits are the very ideas Guerlain wants this perfume to express . Since she corresponds with the product, I agreed with the way this image is used. It really gives customers a special feeling and a different understanding!

It is a child’s drawing. It tells a beautiful story which only the child can interpret to you. It makes me recall a picture I saw before. It was a mother holding a pumpkin which her child’s had a drawing on its surface. The pumpkin was completely covered different disorder color. It looked like a mess for me. Look at this picture, which part do you think is the most attractive place? In my opinion, the most attractive place is eyes. Form the picture we can know the main idea is butterfly. The butterfly on her shoulder looks very unusual, it makes her very sexy. Then pay attention to her eyes. Don’t you think the eye-shadow looks like the butterfly’s wings? The colors are very fit her blue eyes. I cannot deny she is beautiful. I think this picture it tell us the most important place in the face---eyes.
The picture is from a cosmetic company—GUERLAIN. Of course the function of the image is to sell the product. Actually I disagree with this kind of behavior, because I think not everyone fit the item. And it always gives people misunderstanding. Maybe the customer will she can become like that, but in fact the customer cannot gets what she wants. Because we don’t have high make up technique, and looks different form the model. Like me, I have brown eyes if I put the eye-shadow like the image I’m sure I am not looks as beautiful as her. I think this situation is a bit similar with Grace Suh(form The Eye of the Beholder).The image just an image or advice, you cannot believe them so much.

There is no doubt that the typical idea of beauty in America is differ from the one in china.However, we do share some same concepts regarding what is commonly recognized beautiful.i guess maybe it is psychology thing.Eyes, for example, i personally like girls
with big eyes and I'm very sure this concept is shared by the majority wherever in china and America.Estee lady emphasized author's eyes by paying particular attention and poured make over on them to make it standout from the whole face.This girl (pic 1) has the typical attractive eyes and childlike face together with snow white skin.I believe pic 1 was taken years ago and pic 2 was taken recently of course they are the same girl. Pic 2 is the cover of a magazine and was used to promote its sell. i have no interest in reading the content of this magazine but i brought it anyway.Yes, because of the cover girl.Years past, little girl has become a woman.Pic 2 shows another kind of bountifulness and attractiveness---sexiness. I do believe it is a success the way pic 2 was used.People were amazed to see a cute girl become a sexy woman.That's why i believe it is a success to promote the sell of magazine.To be honest i was surprised too.

Dana's Assignment 4: Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholde

This image reflects a standard of beauty are sexy and fresh. Is it being used to try to sell a product. This is a famous cosmetic named Dior. It try to sell their new product, Dior perfume Addict 2. From this advertisement, we can tell that the atmosphere is happy and fresh, with a little bit sexy. Also the girl in the image looks young and attractive. She looks slim but healthy. It represents a certain idea of beauty which is healthy sexy, and make you think that you will look like her if you use this perfume. I agree with the way this image is used. Because most of the perfume advertisements are trying to give people some information to make people think if they want to be sexy as the model, then they will look nasty. But this image shows that even if you want to be sexy you can still be healthy and fresh. What is more, this image give people a great feeling, peaceful atmosphere. It makes you have the impulse to buy this product. This is a good perfume advertisement; I think if I am the customer, I will try to buy this product.

After reading the material,  I came to a conclusion about the characters Hassan and Amir. Hassan and Amir express a master and servant relationship, rather than a brother or friend relationship. The two characters Hassan and Amir met each other through a master servant relationship. I view them as  servant and master because of two clear reasons. The first reason is that Amir doesn't let Hassan play with him while Amirs friends are around. It seems to me that they are acting a little harsh towards Hassan, because not playing with Hassan when others are around does not really count as a friendship.  Secondly, Hassan does tasks he doesn't like to do, just to keep him and his father living in the house.

Based on what I have read on chapter three and four, Amir doesn't seem to be having a well relationship with his Dad. There are two good reasons for that, the first reason is that the father is busy man and it's not weird for rich man but, Amir didn't like that because he thinks he should get more attention from his dad, Amir mentioned that his father do things to other people that he never have done to him. 

The second reason is, The father will never forget the reason of his wife's death. Even though he never mentioned it but it's not an easy thing to be forgotten about.

I'm not quite understand why we have that kind of choice.Why can't amir and hassen just be friends?Not master and servant.Is it
always true that poor kid can't be friends and brother's with rich kid? I really don't think so.Hassen is more mature and more like a brother taking care of amire in someway.They took turns to wear that hat for the whole winter.(page 44 bottom)What else can we say but brotherhood and friendship?Do you think a master can share a hat for the whole winter with his servant?Maybe it's ok to share it for like a few days.But a whole winter? Amir and Hassan's Relationship

I think that Amir and Hassan had good relationship, but it was made by depending on situation, who they met. Basically, both Amir and Hassan had no closed friend anymore, only they played together. For example, when Assef shamed Hassan, Amir could not defense on him as well because he did not want to show hi was belong to lower part of ethic people in his neighborhoods. Amir wanted to push him away in his public pleases, and he wanted to say every children, “Hassan is not my friend anymore, he is my servant.” That was true. Therefore, I assume what Amir had felt about Hassan was because of lack of friend around him; Amir should play with Hassan, if he had a lot of friend he should have not played with Hassan. And also, Hassan seemed to be afraid of losing his best friend. He tended to act a inactivating to Amir when their country had big issues. Those were my feeling about Amir and Hassan’s relationship was not good friend and their relationship usually depending on what situations they had.

Hiyam (Assignment # 3)

Based on my reading, I think the relationship between Hassan and Amir is very strong relationship and they are like brothers but not biological brothers. To support my answers, I would like to refer to Amir conversation with Assef in page 41. More specifically, Assef asked Amir why he treated Hassan very nice and why let him do more things such as playing, talking, and touching Amir. Amir replied “He’s my servant” but Amir never thought like Hassan was, He treated him well, just like a friend, better even, more like a brother. Another reason reflected the strong relationship was when Hassan held the slingshot pointed directly at Assef’s face to defend Amir, this behavior also supported and reflected how strong their relationship was. Based on the above two reasons, it could be concluded that the relationship is very strong as brothers.
On the other hand, others could argue against my opinion since Amir did not include Hassan in group playing when Baba’s friends’ kids came to visit Amir. The reason for this behavior was due to cultural standards since Hassan was known as Hazara.

In my opinion,Amir and Hassan just like brothers.
Hassan asked Amir many questions about "republic", Amir replied with patience. And Hassan is afraid of leaving away from Amir,he said,"I do not want them to send me and Fahter away."
When Assef guys closed in,Hassan trteated behind Amir as he thought can protect him as a brother, he thought he is secutity when he stay with Amir.But then Hassan held the slingshot pointed directly at Assef's face and told Assef guys to go away as he want to protect Amir.
As to Amir,he treated Hassan like brother too.Although he just played with Hassan only when no one else was around He let Amir talk to him, play with him,let Hassan touch him. It can not occur between servant and master.

I think Amir and Hassan are real friends, their children friendship rise above rascial prejudice and rank gap, maybe they are just too young to figure out their tightness relationship. Although Hassan has no choice to settle the problem of racial prejudice, either did Amir. Environments and time are pushing them without a clear direction. From some spots like when other children are bullying Hassan, they just feel scared and lost. It is reasonable in such an age and such a situation. It is easy to make readers have a soft place in their heart. War is always cruel we can see from these children.However, I believe author is trying to show major projects from minor ones. The story between Amir and Hassan is accumulated by these experiences. I can see Hassan is deeply fond of Amir. What is more, although Amir has not of his own free will to have a normal friendship with Hassan. They are just innocent children, have to face these completed situation. Sad, hopeful,hopeless… just like the name of this book.

with age grow up Amir and Hassan have to change their purity of heart,Amir became think he is Hassan's master,naturally Hassan's became think he is Amir's servant.
In a word children are pure no one can control who they like or do not like ,include Hassan and Amir.no one can prevent them from friends.but they grow up they have to study new things,their point of view will be the impact of society at that time.so before chapter 5 they always as friends or brother but after chapter 5 their relationship will began to gradually broke up.

In my understanding, although Hassan does what servant does Amir and Hassan is just like brothers. Maybe Amir speaks like master to Hassan but he treats Hassan is not like that. Amir enjoys spend time with Hassan, he likes share happiness with Hassan. Like play with snow together, attend kite tournament. When Amir had squabble with Assef, Hassan helped Amir just like a brother. Although Hassan is scared he stood up to help Amir. I think it’s not only responsibility of servant but also the brother doesn’t like other people say something bad about his brother. There is also another reason to say they like brothers. How Baba treats them. When Baba bought the new kite to Amir he also bought the same one for Hassan. And Amir always has felt envious of Hassan. If their relationship is servant and master how it can happen? So After I read the passage I felt they have very close relationship. They need each other.

I think it is difficult to define the relationship between Amir and Hassan. From one hand, I think they are like master and servant. The different social status between them decieded that they can never be equal. In Hassan’s mind, he is the servant in Amir’s family and he is a Hazara. It seems that Hassan put himself in a very low status and always called Amir or even Aseff “agha”. And to Amir, Hassan is the person who could bear his tricks and also the one who shouldn’t obtain the love from Baba. I think Amir did’t really regard Hassan as a real friend.
However, they live together and also play with eachother just like good friends. They have the very tree for them to climbing. They once took turns wearing the hat which is Hassan’s birthday preasent and shot each other to dead with snow. They have a lot of wonderful time with each other just like friends.
So I think to a certain extent, they are friends. But the huge gap which made of the difference between their social status decieded that they cannot be real friends in their inner heart.

I think we cannot say that Amir and Hassan's relationship is like real friends.
In chapter5, when Assef asked Amir how he can call him his 'friend', he said, "But he's not my friend! I almost blurted. He's my servant!" It clearly shows that Amir doesn't regard Hassan as his friend. Even though he said that he treated Hassan just like a friend as if he told himself, he noticed later that he played with Hassan only when no one else was around.
And Amir felt envious toward Hassan because Baba always cared about him. Some sentences shows that. For instance, "Baba never missed Hassan's birthday.""It wasn't fair. Hassan hadn't done anything to earn Baba's affections." Amir always tried to attract Baba's attention but he couldn't. So he didn't want to admit Hassan is equal to him. I think Amir likes Hassan and Hassan likes Amir, of course. But Amir express the Hassan's feeling toward him as "loyalty".
Therefore, he didn't think Hassan was his real friend. He tried to regard Hassan as a servant because he didn't want to appreciate Hassan himself.

Amir and Hassan's relationship is more than a friendship. Because they grew together. They are more like brothers. We can understand it, when Amir says, " I treated Hassan well, just like a friend, better even, more like a brother." But deep inside of Amir struggles with the thought of he is his servant. This is a dilemma in Amir. The reason of this could be jealous in Hassan's and Baba's relationship. We can understand when Amir says, " If I changed my mind and asked for a bigger and fancier kite, Baba would buy it for me - but then he'd buy it for Hassan too. Sometimes I wished he wouldn't do that. Wished he'd let me be the favorite." But still, they are like brothers

As I understand from what I read the relationship between Amir and Hassan was great. Amir doesn’t have any sibling so he had to spend most of his time with Hassan. Even Hassan was servant, Amir didn’t care about it because he love him as he one of his brother. Also, Hassan always supports him especially with the kite runner. Overall their relationship was more than good.

I think the relationship between Amir and Hassan was showed more like brothers beyond like friends or servant/master during the description in chapter 5&6. Hassan was only one Amir spent a lot of time with. When Assef questioned Amir how he could call Hassan his friend, Amir could not ignore that he treated Hassan personal more like a brother indeed, even though he had never thought about that before and did not speak out. Also, as Amir was going to be attacked by Assef, Hassan used slingshot to threaten Assef protecting Amir being harmed. In addition, Amir’s father treated Hassan like his son. He never missed Hassan’s birthday. He bought same present for Amir and Hassan as he took them out shopping. In my point of view, I think their relationship is more like a master and a servant. First of all, from chapter 5, Amir is unsure of himself during the confrontation and is tempted to shout, "But he's not my friend!.....He's my servant." This thought shocks Amir, who then realizes he plays with Hassan only when no one else is around, even though he usually treats Hassan more like a brother than a friend. Secondly, when Baba gave Hassan a birthday present, the plastic surgery. Amir thought, “I wished I too had some kind of scar that would beget Baba's sympathy, it wasn't fair. Hassan hadn't done anything to earn Baba's affections; he'd just been born with that stupid harelip.” If he takes Hassan as a friend or brother then he should be happy for him instead of being jealous. What is more, in chapter 6, one time, while waiting for a kite to land, Amir turns a simple little comment made by Hassan, "I'd sooner eat dirt" into a challenge of the hierarchy and nature of their relationship. Hassan not only answers but also is able to challenge Amir's integrity with his own reply, questioning if Amir would ever ask such a thing. This showed that Hassan take himself as a servant because he will do whatever Amir said. Above all, I believe that Hassan and Amir relate more like master and servant

Although Amir didn't want to admit it at all, I would like to say that the relationship between he
and Hassan was as close as that of friends. They were both important in eash other's mind. When
they encountered Assef, Hassan threw himself into the breach and let Amir get rid of a terrible
fight using his slingshot. Assef was so strong and savage that nobody could escape if he decided
to do something bad and Hassan was well aware of this point. But he run this risk to protect Amir,
which showed that Hassan cared Amir very much, or he wouldn't have said he would rather to eat
dirt than lying to Amir. On the other hand, Amir somehow was proud of Hassan's skill of running
kites. Although he avioded accepting Hassan as his friend, he really took pride of Hassan when
Hassan succeeded in catching the kite. He envied Hassan just because of his special emotion that
he was eager with Baba's love so much and he denied to share this love with Hassan. Hassan has
become one part of Amir's life.

I would like to say Amir and Hassan relate more like master and servant. A strong evidence exists in chapter 5: When they ran into Assef unfortunately and faced to menace, Amir almost blurted "he's not my friend" and "he's my servant". Thus, there's no doubt that in Amir's mind, Hassan was his servant but not a friend. Someone may say Amir treated Hassan well as if they were friends even brothers. If so, why did Amir "play with Hassan only when no one else was around"? I'm regret to say Hassan was just in his role as a servant, who could be in company with his master, Amir, when he was alone and kept him from loneliness. Another instance in chapter 6 is that one day when they ran a kite and waited it under a tree, Amir doubted whether Hassan would eat dirt if he told him to do it. Hassan remained silent for a long time and finally said:"If you asked, I would." Those words Hassan said expressed a servant's loyalism. Therefore, not only Amir thought Hassan was a servant but also Hassan himself thought like that. In a word, their relationship is the connection between a master and a servant.

Amir and Hassan relationship:

In order to chapter 5 and 6 it seems Amir and Hassan was friend but their relationship carried a little envious and jealous which was served by Amir. Although Amir had a good living life situation but he was always offended because of his father respect and care about Hassan. Like when Amir said, “Baba never missed Hassan’s birthdays.” Or when baba wanted to buy a kite for them Amir stated that I never change my mind because he knew if he change his mind and want better thing baba would buy it for Hassan too and he mentioned, “I wished he’d let me be favorite.” These two examples show Amir's envious feeling about Hassan which is not good at all.

In my opinion Amir’s relationship wasn’t so good. His father was trying to ignore him sometimes. Also, he didn’t support him as it should be. Amir wished that Rahim Khan were his father because he supported him with that story that he showed it to him. Overall their relationship was far away from each other.

Amir came from a powerful family.He had no mother.It was very reasonable that he rely on him a lot. I mean mentally.Amir love his father a lot and his father love him as well.In addition, i do think Amir respect him more than he loves him for the following reasons.
First, his father was very rich and powerful, people respected him.Imagine growing up in that kind of family or background, how can't Amir did not respect him. Second,along with respect ions, Amir was very proud of him.It's human natural to admire people with power and money.As we can find proof from page 15 the first sentence: .....because then everyone would see that he was ,y father, my baba.By the way, Amir called his father Baba more often instead of father or something else, which also shows he loved him.They were close and in a healthy relationship.Last, Amir was very eager to share every single pieces of his life with Baba.As we can find from the bottom of page 17: ..We'd had a fleeting good moment....and i'd been a fool to waste it.
To sum, Amir loved Baba very much.However, interestingly he thought he killed his mother and I do think he was maybe a little fear of Baba too.They were close and in a healthy relationship anyway.

The relationship with father and son

The problems of this family’s relationship are Amir who could not understand what his father wanted from him and Baba who did not want to know about his son. First, when it comes to orphanage, they had perfectly different opinion or feeling about it. Amir felt that he was stolen his father by other boys, he thought that he only deserved his father’s love not other boy could get Baba’s love. As a result, Amir thought they had had less conversation, and he felt Baba hated him. Baba was also disappointed in Amir’s behavior. He felt that his son must act like his childhood. Those were two people different thinking about each other. However, I thought they still loved each other because Amir was so proud of his father, and Baba just worried about his son’s wrong behavior. Even though people thought Baby was wrong to his son, I felt he used just different way of teaching to his son.

Amir's relationship with his father is complicated. Both of them have the same important lady in their lives. For Amir, she's the mother; For his father, She's the "princess" and wife. Thus, Amir and his father have blood ties. Notwithstanding that, their relationship seems unhealthy. In the most time, they're distant. For example, Amir wrote a story by himself and shown it to his father, but "baba went on staring me down, and didn't offer to read". The father's so detached that Amir wished "I could open my veins and drain his cursed blood from my body". However, sometimes they're close, such as when they talked about the definition of "sinner". It's hard to say Amir likes or hates his father because his feelings to his father are mixed with worship and dread. In other words, it's the emotion of awe. Actually, it's the common emotion to fathers from little boys. Therefore, their relationship is complicated and cannot be defined as a healthy or unhealthy one.

We can see the relationship between Amir and his father was distant and unhealthy through writer’s description in the Chapters.
Amir had mixed feelings about his father. He was proud of his father, wanted to be like him, wanted to be loved, approved and accepted by his father, but he also was feared, and stung by his father. For example,
Amir described his father was a force of nature. Attention shifted to his father like sunflowers turning to the sun. As people doubted his father that running a business wasn’t in his blood and he should study law like his father, his father succeeded in building an orphanage that drew the blueprints himself, a carpet-exporting business, two pharmacies and restaurant. Amir was so glad to have that chance to get to hold his father’s hat during his father’s speech at the opening ceremony. From those descriptions, we can see that Amir was very proud of his father and wants to be like him.
Also, in other descriptions, we can see that Amir desired very much to be loved, accepted and approved by his father, but it showed that he received that very little. He lied so he could have his father all to him when his father asked him to fetch Hassan also that day before the orphanage opened which they went to Ghargha Lake picnic. The reason was he couldn’t forget that his father patted Hassan on the back, even put his arm around Hassan’s shoulder. At the Ghargha Lake, Amir asked some questions from his father, but his father just grunted, didn’t answer. Even he said he thought he had saratan, his father just told him that he could get he soda himself, all he had to do was look in the trunk of the car that day. Amir was good at play a game called “Sherjangi” that everyone in his class wanted him on their team. But his father was never impressed and been proud of by his success on that. Amir wrote a story, he wanted to share with his father, but his father just nodded and gave him a thin smile that conveyed little more than feigned interest. His father just said“Well, that’s very good, isn’t it?” Then nothing more. He just looked at Amir through the cloud of smoke.
Another, Amire feared his father. Amir had a chance to sit on his lap. But he couldn’t decide whether he wanted to hug him or leap from his lap in mortal fear.
In addition, Amire was stung by his father when he heard his father said he’d never believe he was his son if he hadn’t seen the doctor pull him out of his wife with his own eyes. It really broke his heart.
Form another side, Amir’s father didn’t like and didn’t respect Amir to be what he was. He wanted his son to be what he wanted but his son had never become what he wanted. For example, Amir’s father signed Amir up for soccer teams and took him to Buzkashi tournament to watch game. But Amir did not show any possible sign to become success at that filed. All were failure. He even doubted something was missing in Amir and wondered if Amir might not be his son. It was so terrible that Amir’s father had that thinking.

He is very proud of Baba and always tries to attract his interest. In the chapter 3, when Baba motioned to him to hold his hat for him, he said that "I was glad to, because then everyone would see that he was my father, my Baba." . And he even hated all the kids Baba was building the orphanage for. He wanted to have Baba all to himself. However, Baba was aloof from him. He had already envisioned the ideal son for him but his son was totally different from it. That caused his frustration and anger. Their loves are quite different in degree. That's why I think their relationship is distant and unhealthy.

I think Amir's relationship with his father is distant. They relationship relies on what they expect on each other, which I think is not health. Because in my mind, the love from father for the child should be inflected on many details in daily life but I can't see this from Amir's Baba. For instance, he seldom hugged Amir, which implies a vivid distance in his heart to the son. Baba's attitude towards Amir led directly to Amir's unhealthy emotion to the father. In this chapter, Amir composed a novel and he was eager to get praise or encouragement from his Dad, as a result he did not have a look at the draft at all, showing no interest in it. This must be a big impact to Amir and made him feel more distant to Baba.

From what I known, their relationship was not that well. Because his father is very success, he wants Amir to be like him. But Amir was not strong enough, often time when Amir's make fun of him or beat him he never fight back. Amir said that Rahim Khan had been wrong about the mean streak thing. That means Amir consider himself as a person who has some bad thing in nature.Amir is long for the appreciation from his father but Baba doesn't like this kind of boy who is quiet and a sort of timid.Instead, he thinks Hassan is better.
Amir is jealous of Hassan just for this reason and expresses his grievances to him. At end of Chapter 3, Amir snaps at Hassan even though he didn't make any mistake. What's more, in Chapter 4, Amir is so happy when Hassan clapped for his first story and said that he'll be a great writer in the future.However, when Hassan raised a question about his story which Amir didn't want to accept at all, Amir considered Hassan as a illiterate Hazara soon. I think these are the mean streaks which Amir mentioned, the harsh attitude to Hassan.

Assignment 2(1)

After read the passage I found Amir and his father have distant .And the only thing make them together is Sofia Akrami ,Amir’s mother ,Baba’s wife. Amir does not know about his father a lot.
In the chapter 3 Amir said he wants to a little more like Baba but Baba’s a lot of behaviors let him couldn’t turn out to like him. Like Baba ignore him, and he always felt Baba hated him because he had killed Baba’s beloved wife. Baba thinks Amir doesn’t like him, because Amir is too weak. At the end of chapter 3 Baba said” If I hadn’t seen the doctor pull him out of my wife with my own eyes, I ‘d never believe he’s my son” from this sentence I clearly know they have unhealthy relationship. And I felt a bit sad because I cannot believe the father can say his son in this way.
In the chapter 4 Amir wrote his first story, he took it to smoking room and hoped Baba can read it. But when Baba know he wrote a story he just said “Well, that’s very good, isn’t it?”, and didn’t want read it. How he hopes he can get encourage form Baba. Instead Rahim Khan read his story. Amir wished Rahim Khan had been his father. From chapter I felt Amir hoped to get love form his father he wanted his father can admit him. Actually Amir couldn’t get what he want, because there is a big river between Amir and Baba.

Assignment#2. Chapters 3 and 4

Amir and his father had a distant relationship. Baba and Amir had aloofness between them. The reason of this aloofness is Baba. Baba had this because Amir was not like him and Baba wanted to Amir just like him. But he was not like his father. Besides, Amir was like his mother a bit. He loves to read books and poems. They had an unhealty relationship between them. They were not close enough as a father and son should be. We can understand this from the words Amir, He says : " it wasn't often Baba talked to me, let alone on his lap and I'd been a fool to waste it". Also, another reason that shows us it was not a healthy relationship, Amir was accusing himself because of the death of his mother. And stealing his father's beloved wife. He says: "After all, I had killed his beloved wife, his beautiful princess, hadn't I?". That could be the reason of aloofness between them. Baba kows that was not Amir's fault, but he could not help himself to think that way.

Amir's relationship with his father:

Based on chapters 3&4, I noticed that Amir’s relationship with his father is distant, unhealthy relationship.
At first, Amir remembers and is somewhat jealous of the physical contact that his father had with Hassan, when he describe how Baba touch Hassan, he said “he even put his arm around his shoulder”. He doesn’t like Baba get close to someone else. He want Baba only be close with him because Baba is his father. In addition, Amir recounts examples of Baba not listening to him. When he tries to talk to his father, Baba was always grunted instead of pay attention about what his son said. Amir states that the complex nature of his relationship with his father is a combination of love and fear.
However, Amir felt so proud of Baba when Baba gave a speech. He felt everyone likes his father made him proud because he is Baba’s son. Amir introduces his love of language and talent for words, but when he shares his success in the Battle of the Poems, Baba is disinterested. Baba only said “well, that’s very good, isn’t it?” Like he was not even concerned about what story Amir had wrote. Amir always felt like Baba hated him a little bit. Because he believed that he had killed Baba’s beloved wife. Both Amir and Baba recognize that Amir's interests, talents, and abilities do not match those of Baba, particularly when Baba was a boy growing up. The incident with the sporting matches illustrates the difference.
Amir loves Baba but in the mean time, he hates his father. Baba felt angry that he couldn’t believe Amir is his son. The relationship between them is irreconcilable and unhealthy.

In order to chapters 3 & 4 i understood that Amir and his father doesn't have a good relationship.Always Amir was unsatisfied from his father like when he said "I was always learning things about baba from other people" or when he said " I always remembered all the times he didn't come home until after dark, all the times i ate dinner alone". Also when he told his father "I'd written a story, baba nedded and gave a thin smile that conveyed little more than feigned interest".he just said "well,that's very good,isn't it? and noting more".Then Amir said "As always, it was Rahin khan who rescued me and called me Amir jan!baba hardly ever used the term of endearment jan when he addressed me".Amir wished Rahim khan had been my father.Because he always felt why his dad hated him!"and why not? After all, i had killed his beloved wife, his beautiful pricess. hadn't I"?So it seems there wasn't close relationship our healthy relationship between Amir and his father.!
