I'm not quite understand why we have that kind of choice. Why can't amir and hassen just be friends? Not master and servant. Is it
always true that poor kid can't be friends and brother's with rich kid? I really don't think so.Hassen is more mature and more like a brother taking care of amire in someway. They took turns to wear that hat for the whole winter.(page 44 bottom)What else can we say but brotherhood and friendship?Do you think a master can share a hat for the whole winter with his servant?Maybe it's ok to share it for like a few days. But a whole winter? Think about that.In addition, they made kite together.Amir saved his allowance for that(Page 50).Do you think it was a master and servant suppose to do?Of course not.To sum that up, it's obvious they are brother's and friends. Not master and servant.

Wei, good insights. I agree with you that they relate more like brothers and friends than master and servant. However, it is unfortunate that in this world we do have the rich and the poor and often society will prevent people in different classes from being close friends or brothers. This is what Amir struggled with, too. That is why he has conflicted feelings about his relationship sometime. I see you are an idealist and wish that we didn't have all these class distinctions - I think this world needs people like you!
